19th - Tom McConville Trio

Tom McConville, internationally renowned fiddle player and BBC Folk Musician of the Year, 2009 brings a taste of the Pennines to the BURC (formerly St Paul’s Church) in Spittal. Tom blends traditional music from his Newcastle roots with Irish, Scottish and American influences creating heart-stopping performances, great singing plus his inimitable sense of humour.

He is accompanied by Jane Waites, fiddle /whistle player and 4 time clog dance champion and Phil Waites, outstanding flatpick acoustic guitarist and vocalist. Expect dustbowl ballads to bluegrass and old time tunes alongside high energy Celtic jigs and reels to airs and waltzes.

With the Pennines as the hub the show musically links Scotland and the Borders in the north, Ireland and eastern USA in the west and over the moor east as far as – er, South Shields.
